Ukiah, California-based vacuum alloys furnace maker Retech Systems LLC has announced shifts in production and research and development (R&D) away from its long-time home in California.

According to a late 2019 announcement from the firm, Retech will “transition much of the manufacturing and assembly previously done in Ukiah to facilities in Świebodzin, Poland.” Retech has been part of the larger Poland-based SECO/Warwick group of companies since 2011.

In late January of this year, media outlets in Buffalo, New York, began reporting that Retech will shift from 35 to 80 jobs to that city after it signed a lease with the Buffalo Urban Development Corp. for nearly 50,000 square feet of space.

The Buffalo News has reported that Retech will move “virtually its entire operation – including its corporate headquarters – to Buffalo’s East Side. It will bring three dozen jobs now with plans to grow to 80, including researchers, engineers, machine operators, finance and administrative personnel.”

The newspaper quotes Retech President Earl Good as saying, “We think Buffalo is a good area for us to expand. We look forward to growing that business and adding parts as we move forward.”

Retech Systems designs and makes furnaces and equipment for melting, refining and casting reactive and refractory metals, including titanium and titanium alloys, super alloys and rare earth metals. The firm’s products for the recycling sector include vacuum arc remelt furnaces.
